Hannah Nowak, Avelardo Lopez, and Kyle Nowak traveled to Houston this week to participate in the year's final livestock show. All three represented Strawn well, even with the chaotic circumstances and last minute rescheduling that occurred. Avelardo even won 14th Place with his goat, Miles, and made the sale! Congratulations; we are proud of all of you!
We are currently participating in COVID-19 task force debriefing with state officials and expect to receive more detailed information on how our region is being affected. Mr. Mitchell will be sending out additional information next week as Texas officials provide guidance. Continue to follow Strawn ISD Facebook and website for the latest updates.
Thank you, Brighton and Lance Newsom, for supplying your classes with these fun mustaches! Happy [early] St. Patrick's Day, from Second Grade and Kindergarten!
Suggested Items for Homeless Care Packets
Strawn ISD will be collecting items for these packages throughout the month of March.
Please review and follow the latest and most up to date information on the best methods of combating this virus. All options will be considered to make sure that our children and our staff are safe.
Congratulations to our Regional Qualifiers! These young men are headed out today and will lift tomorrow at the Regional Powerlifting Meet in Alvord. Good luck, Greyhounds!
4th and 5th Grade will be doing a service project for each month of the remaining school year. This month they have chosen to collect items to put in care packages for the homeless. Amy May, who hands out these care packages with her daughter, Emma, came today to speak with grades Pre-K through 12 about items that would be appreciated. She also shared some very touching experiences, like how something as simple as a nail file or a fork can make someone feel human again. Thank you for coming to visit with us!
We will be collecting items for these packages throughout the month of March. Some ideas are non-perishable food items (Make sure cans have a pull tab!), toiletries like soap or wet wipes (Grab those freebies at hotels!), new socks, bottled water, and even the bags themselves. Let's take the opportunity to give back and make a difference in someone's life!

Ms. Colclasure's Art class is almost done with their Multicultural Art Projects! They had to choose a country and an artist & sculptor from that country. Each student had to create an original piece of art inspired by his artist's work. These are pictured here! They must also create and present a slideshow at the end of this week. There are some very creative pieces here; great work!

Our Dr. Seuss week may come to an end today, but never our love for reading! Pre-K and Kindergarten had a pajama day and found some comfy places to read; some even used flashlights! Kindergarten wrote about their favorite Dr. Seuss book and what they would do if the Cat in the Hat ever came to visit them. And Second Grade proudly hung their Dr. Seuss colorings in the cafeteria!
We have added a HS Track Meet to Thursday, March 12th, at Wichita Falls. The track meet will start at 12:00 P.M.
Pre-K soaked up the sun today while reading outside and did some fun Cat in the Hat finger painting! Kindergarten copied the Cat and wore some fun hats of their own, and then tried their hand at reading with their eyes shut! We've got one more day of Dr. Seuss fun!
Congratulations to Preston Sizemore! He received Honorable Mention All-Star Cast yesterday for his performance in The Diary of Adam and Eve.
