This morning, Ms. Harris made the switch from teacher to student! Her third graders took turns to Teach the Teacher and the rest of the class to how to do something. Each "teacher" had 5 to 10 minutes to explain and model the process! Check out our Facebook page for more photos!

Field Day will be tomorrow, May 26th, and will begin at 9:00 AM with elementary! We will have water slides, water balloons, games, music, and snow cones! Junior High will participate from 11:00 AM-12:00 PM. High School will begin at 12:30 PM and finish at 2:00 PM. Please remember to send your child to school with a water bottle, sunscreen, towel, and extra change of clothes.

Yesterday we treated a group of students to a movie, pizza, and ice cream for reaching all their IXL goals for both math AND reading every cycle! Tonight’s FFA Banquet was attended by 26 FFA members and 50 guests. Chapter Officers opened the meeting and Eric Nowak led the attendees in prayer before guests were served a delicious brisket – smoked by none other than our Ag Director, Mr. Cliff Thornton. Thank you to all who prepared and served tonight's meal, and thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate and support our FFA program. Mr. Thornton took a moment to acknowledge the 4-H program and its growth over the past few years, recognizing the 4-H members in attendance and their great work at various shows this year, including Justin Patton who has two photos advancing to State in the 4-H Photography Contest. Mr. Thornton also honored the following: Livestock Judging, who placed 4th at District – Kathryn Holder, Justin Patton, & Aryn Stoker Entomology, who placed 7th at Area – Marcy Rivera, Isabel Rodriguez, Hayden Nowak, Jessica Marroquin, & Itzet Hernandez Ag Mech, who pulled a red ribbon at the Fort Worth Show with a detailed presentation – Jimmy Duncan & Justin Patton Welding Team, who all received their MIG Welding Certification and the four who received Stick Welding Certification, & Trenton Sizemore, who received Top Welder at the Wichita Falls Weld-Off Community Awards to those who support the Strawn FFA Program – Strawn Lions Club, First National Bank – Strawn, Ms. Stephanie Harris (4-H Program Leader), & Mrs. Cassie Ellis Service Awards – Kyler Tunnell, Hayden Nowak, Justice Baker, Preston Sizemore, Isabel Rodriguez, Jessica Marroquin, Itzet Hernandez, Marcy Rivera, Justin Patton, & Amilia Hughes Shop Proficiency Awards – Kadin Parsons, Trenton Sizemore, Jimmy Duncan, Jose Estrada, & Aryn Stoker Swine Proficiency Award – Payton Harris Rabbit Proficiency Award – Laura Schoonover Goat Proficiency Award – Kaythryn Holder Star Greenhand – Kathryn Holder Top Hand – Isabel Rodriguez Hayden Nowak recited the FFA Creed, and Isabel Rodriguez closed the meeting. Mr. Thornton and his agricultural department held their annual Ag Day this morning! FFA & 4-H members taught students about their animals and ag projects. Students were even able to pet some of the animals and hand-feed the sheep & goat! 5th Graders spent last Wednesday - Friday at Camp Grady Spruce! Students experienced the great outdoors and participated in team building, hiking, canoeing, horseback riding, archery, shelter building, swimming, and so much more! Class sponsors Mrs. Coates & Mrs. Cervantes worked tirelessly with the Junior Class and Sherlee Love to make this a truly spectacular and memorable event. Thank you to the Nava family, Mary Tretter, Sherlee Love, and the Juniors for the delicious BBQ meal, to Mrs. Cormack for the vigilant perimeter detail, and to Joni Crawford who donated many of the decorations. We were also graced with the presence of several performers! The staff of Texas Scare Grounds in Mineral Wells came out to greet our students as they arrived, and Spacie Macie, a flow artist from Radiant Souls, thrilled us with her levitation wand routine!

Congratulations, Trenton Sizemore & Isabel Rodriguez - our Prom Royalty!

Students in grades 9, 10, & 12 toured both the Baker Hotel and the Crazy Water Hotel in Mineral Wells today! They finished their trip with lunch at Old School Pizza.

Grades 2 & 3 had the opportunity to visit Volleman's dairy farm today. Look at those smiles and the sweet faces of the calves they got to pet and bottle feed!

To end our year, we were visited by a few professionals who use photography in their careers! • Tay Huggins, a social media manager for School of Rock and several other companies, schooled us in social media strategy, marketing, things to consider when building your brand, and the implementation of tags and location to reach a larger audience! • Sarah Carlisle, owner of Saraphim Art, taught us to take our photography to the next level by playing with light and shooting in RAW for more editing options. She let us view some of her amazing work and gave us tips on panoramic photography and creating our own filters! • Venessa Van Winkle & Rebecca Bowman explained how photography in real estate can affect the overall price of the sale. They showed us examples of bad photos of a house versus photos that make the house look much more appealing, gave tips on how to set the house for the best photography including planning your shooting times around the placement of the sun, and explained the benefits of networking and the different ways to do so (for extroverts AND introverts)! We are so thankful for these wonderful presenters who gave their time freely to talk to us and show us different career options in which we can use photography and the skills we have learned in Yearbook!
