Thank you, Palo Pinto Mountains State Park Rangers James Miller & Jimmy Shipp, for having us out today! Our students were able to hike one of the trails and explore the beautiful park, which should open sometime next year! We looked for mammals, insects, birds, and plants while we hiked and learned some interesting things about nature. James & Jimmy were fantastic at furthering the conversations our students were already having amongst themselves. They expanded upon the kids' ideas, answered questions, and showed us many great things along the way! Thank you chaperones Mrs. Abbott, Ms. Beyer, Mrs. Smith, and Mrs. Ellis, volunteer Itzet Hernandez, and a BIG thank you to Mrs. Cormack for driving us out and hiking with us! This week in the Summer Library Program, our attendance totaled 70! Many of the kids have been bringing in their reading logs and earning fun prizes. We've got one week left of planned activities; come join in on the fun!

Week 3 of our Summer Library Program brought in 107 students! Big thank you to Art Sahlstein at ESC Region 11 for coming out to share his knowledge on fossils, hadrosaurs, and more! We had so many kids (42) with great questions, who got to hold fossils, and each of them went home with a crystal! Art brought these because crystals glittering on the hillside is what originally led him to the Arlington Archosaur Site! In addition to all of this, he discussed his finding of Scolomastax Sahlsteini, or as he affectionately calls it, The Little Nipper. This was such a fun presentation, and we are thrilled that so many were able to attend!
